Vietnam Oil & Gas Group agreed on potential joint exploration with state-owned KazMunaiGaz National Co. in western Kazakhstan.
The companies plan to explore and may develop and produce oil and gas on-shore in the oil-rich Mangistau region under an agreement signed today in Astana, the Kazakh capital, KazMunaiGaz said in an e-mailed statement.
If the location is promising, PetroVietnam, as the Asian company is called, and KazMunaiGaz will negotiate commercial, technical and contract terms, including stakes in a joint venture, according to the statement.
