Brunei sells crude oil to Vietnam

On 28/11, within the framework of his state visit to Brunei Darussalam, State President Truong Tan Sang visited Brunei Shell oil company, saw Brunei Shell Petroleum Corporation and Vietnam signed the purchase and sale of crude oil worth $ 250 million.

In the framework of the state visit the Brunei Darussalam kingdom, Mr Truong Tan Sang - president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has visitted Brunei Shell oil and gas company and saw the crude oil trading contract signing between Brunei Shell oil and gas company and Vietnam Petroleum Corporation worth USD250 million on November 28th.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Mr Do Van Hau – General director of Vietnam petroleum Corporation said Brunei will sell to Vietnam 1,8 million tonnes of crude oil as contract (equivalent to 240,000 tonnes per year). Crude oil from Brunei will mix with crude oil from Bach Ho field of Vietnam, and then supplies to Dung Quat oil refinery.

According to analysis from Mr Hau, this contract is very meaningful in the help to ensure the stable supply to Dung Quat oil refinery. Currently, crude oil from Bach Ho and Rong fields are drying up, so the seeking other supply marching with Dung Quat processor technology is very important.

Mr Hau affirmed that crude oil from Brunei is suitable completely for Dung Quat oil refinery. He also expected that Brunei will continue to extend the contract for coming years after expiring.
