From March 1st, retail price of cooking gas will increase another VND52,000 to VND477,000 a cylinder. This is the third time gas price increase since this year.

The increase in price was beginning at 7h30 today. Accordingly, Saigon Petro will lift price by VND4,333 a kg, equivalentto VND42,000 a cylinder of 12kg, Mr Do Trung Thanh- Deputy Sales Manager of Saigon Petro said.

In detail, retail price of cooking gas in the south of Vietnam will hike to VND477,000 per 12kg cylinder. Similar to Saigon Petro, MT Gas Company also said it would increase retail price by VND52,000 in tomorrow.

“Retail price rise in the domestic market is following the price increase of CP (contract price in the world) delivery in March has up USD180 to USD1,205 a tonne”, Mr Le Phuc Dai, General Director of the Company Vinagas explained.

Early this year, gas price increased by VND24,000 a cylinder of 12kg. Price continued raising additional VND8,000 some days after. In the early February, price kept increasing futher VND42,000.

The surge in price is causing uncomfortable to customers. To reduce the burden to them, some gas distributors have decreased price down by VND10,000-12,000. HCM City authorities also hold conferences to find out the reasons and to seek measures to solve the price disturbance. However, price still escalats in the early March.
