Diesel imports of Vietnam in March and April may up three-fold from February

As reported by Reuters, the import volume of diesel of Vietnam in March and April is expected to rise three to four times over February. Currently, importers are seeking to purchase a huge quantity of gasoil in order to meet demand soaring after government lifted off the import tax policy for this product in this month.

As known, two largest oil importer and distributors in Vietnam – Petrolimex and PV Oil are seeking to buy a total of 78,000 tonnes of diesel for delivery in March and April.

Previously, Petrolimex, PV Oil and Saigon Petro also imported to 96,000 tonnes of gasoil for March and April.

In the situation of petrol prices plumming in the world market, but prices in Vietnam still are hovering at the highest levels in more than 10 months, driven mainly by higher crude prices in the domestic market.

Vietnam decided to remove the import duty of diesel product in the beginning of March in order to ease the burden to customers, after it let distributors raise retail prices by up to 12 percent.
