In May 16th, moring, the Dung Quat oil refinery (Quang Ngai) started stopping it’s operation within 2 weeks to one month to check and test for the last time.

Talking to VnExpress.net in the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Giang, general director of Binh Son Petrochemical - Refinery Company, said Dung Quat oil refinery is reducing capacity gradually to suspend opereation for checksum and technical error repairs before coordinating with a joint contractor - Technip in doing the acceptance test of works in late June.

The idle time at Dung Quat oil refinery may last from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, Mr Giang added.

Mr Giang pointed out that the larggest probblem is technology in Cracking workshops catalyst – a heart of Dung Quat oil refinery, must definitely solve before last acceptance test

In July 2011, Dung Quat oil refinery also suspended within 2 months for first stage maintenance.

After 60 days and night, contractors, engineers and experts finished 18 items of upgrade, transformed and fixed exist 75 technical errors in refinery. Total cost of overall maintenance for the first time was more than USD40 million.
