Petro Mekong has sent Ministry of Industry and Trade a proposal on requirement for not continue to be a majors importer of oil any more since 2012.

This is the first distributor of 12 largest distributors to file a letter to Ministry of Industry and Trade for stopping gasoline imports, although this area is considered to make more profit.

As recommended by Petro Mekong, the reason it withdraws from the list of key importers is following the direction from its parent company - PV Oil. Accordingly, in 2012, PV Oil will directly import petroleum products and reallocate to its units include Petro Mekong monthly.

In late July, 2011, Ministry of Industry and Commerce has published a list of 5 per 12 enterprises did not complete target of oil imports as prescribed, include Army Petroleum Corporation, Petroleum Company of Vietnam Maritime Corporation and Petro Mekong.

Ministry also planed to withdraw import licenses of Petro Mekong because of insufficient oil imports.
