Synergy Eni-PetroVietnam to extend beyond Vietnam

(AGI) Hanoi, Oct 13 - According to ENI CEO, Claudio Descalzi, the alliance between Eni and PetroVietnam is developing and will continue to do so outside Vietnam as well. Descalzi's statement came in the wake of the signature of two exploration contracts for blocks 116 and 124, signed with PetroVietnam CEO Do Van Hau in Hanoi on Monday. As Descalzi said to AGI in Hanoi, "We started together two years ago. We wanted to explore other opportunities outside Vietnam and together we acquired the exploration rights on two blocks in Myanmar. Next week in Italy we will sign a Joint operating agreement (JOA)". The cooperation will extend to expertise and technology exchanges.

"In a short time we have developed a great rapport. The leadership of the PetroVietnam group is strong and efficient", Descalzi continued, pointing out that the two energy giants share a strong interest in non-conventional energy sources. "We have entered a new phase, finding new basins, especially in terms of shale gas and tight gas", he concluded. Descalzi and Do Van Hau will meet again in a few days in Milan, starting a week dedicated to the relationship between the EU and Asia. The Business Forum will open on Oct. 15, offering a meeting venue to many representatives of the industries of the two continents. On Oct. 16 and 17 heads of state and government will attend the ASEM, a meeting focused on the relationship between the EU and Asia. (AGI) .
